A job discription

Job description
A financial manager is responsible for providing financial advice and support to clients and colleagues to enable them to make sound business decisions. Specific settings vary enormously and include both public and private sector organisations, such as multinational corporations, retailers, financial institutions, NHS trusts, charities, small manufacturing companies and universities.

Financial considerations are at the root of all major business decisions. Clear budgetary planning is essential for future planning, both short and long term, and companies need to know the financial implications of any decision before proceeding. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that financial practices are in line with all statutory legislation and regulations.

Financial managers may also be known as financial analysts or business analysts.

Typical work activities
The roles of financial managers vary significantly. The generic nature of the job title can be misleading and job descriptions should be scrutinised carefully as the level and scope of the responsibilities involved in any role coming under the banner of financial management can differ enormously. In larger companies, for instance, the role is more concerned with strategic analysis; in smaller organisations, a financial manager may be responsible for the collection and preparation of accounts.

Typical activities include:

providing and interpreting financial information;
monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends;
analysing change and advising accordingly;
formulating strategic and long-term business plans;
researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance;
analysing competitors and market trends;
developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk;
conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities;
managing a company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems;
liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out;
developing external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue;
producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines;
managing budgets;
arranging new sources of finance for a company's debt facilities;
supervising staff;
keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.

A job disscussion

I personally liked being challenged and i like hands on activities because their require active participation and anticipate changes everyday. From a young age I have enjoyed group projects and go full out when i am given a task to solve. Being a financial manager i feel it gives me the challenge to organise finances, lead a goup or company financial, ect. With this type of job I will be able to go full out and do my best as it is something I enjoy and it will challenge to take my thinking to a new level as the tasks will get tougher. I enjoy learning and i feel this job will open my eyes to new things and give me an opportunity to learn and progress my knowledge.

With sound financial management, every entrepreneur can answer these questions. Financial management helps you:
• Obtain the financial statements you need to measure company success, meet government requirements, and gather information to use in making management decisions.
• Perform analyses to find profitable directions and eliminate unprofitable ones.
• Handle company finances to maximize profits and maintain liquidity and financial stability, with or without increased sales.
• Protect company assets.
• Plan financially to achieve company and personal goals, including non-financial company goals such as having the best place to work or offering the best quality products, and owner goals such as security, retirement, or leisure activities.
• Prepare financially for unknown developments such as new technology, new or improved competition, changes in customer needs, shifts in the economy, or changes in legislation. This also includes planning for the continued life of the company.
Sound financial management does not eliminate the need for attention to sales, production, and personnel, but enables each of these functions to succeed, and enables that success to be measured. Remember that everything you do in business has a direct or indirect financial implication.

In closing i chose this carrea because it is a hands on job, one gets to plan financial budgets, set long term goals for the company, messure company success and the list continues. It is not a typical office job where you sit for 8 hours glued to your chair and gazing at a your computer but as a financial manager, you are faced with new challenges everyday which requires active thinking.

All you need to know about Thati!

My full name is Onthatile Dineo Dlamini but mostly none as Thati. Iwas born on the 5 of August in the year 1993. I have two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister. Normally when im at home i spend a lot of time talking on the phone with my friends, reading or annoying my sister.

My family is very hyper and we are very close-knit. Most of the time when were together we spend our time debating, singing or making fun of each other. There are normally some ups and downs that we go through as a family, for example we as siblings fight, mostly its me and my sister, at other times my mum will just lecture us for being too untidy or not taking things seriously but most of the time we enjoy each others company. My fathers normally not around, he lives in South africa so most of the time its just the four of us, me, my mum,my sister and my brother.

I enjoy my school life mostly because of my friends and classmates. I have quite a large circle of friends. Most of them from different backgrounds. We usually hang around during recess where we will laugh a lot and joke around. The teachers at school are great and play a part in making school fun. Take for example miss Chin. she can be quite sacastic and strict at times but she is a very nice and humourous teacher if you get to know her, Mrs Soh is also quite funny and makes the class fun and more lively. There are also teachers who just prefer telling storieor about their daily life which i also enjoy. Take for example Mrs Lee, she likes sharing of personal experiencess in her family and about her cooking or past expeirences. From this we can learn and later apply these teachings in life.

I have a wide range of hobbies, i like swimming, singing, acting and telling lame jokes. I mostly specialise in lame jokes which some people find annoying or hilarious. I enjoy telling lame jokes and most people know me for my lameness. I like eating and hanging around with my friends. I dislike backstabbers, lairs and those who look down on people because of what they are and where they come from. I also like people who are discouraging and always tell you that it is impossible to become this or that. I strongly believe as an adult one should encourage a child to do what they want to be, being it the best guiter player a doctor or a clothes designer. If one has their heart set on something and you work towards achieving it then nothing can stop you from achieving your dream. In future i aspire to become the next miss universe and become a famouse actor. Im halfway towards achieving my goal and with an optamistic mind i will get there. I do have some negative points though, i like debating with people and strongly stand for what i belive in, i talk to much too which im trying to reduce as the saying goes, God gave us two ears and one mouth to listen twice as much than we talk. That is basically all about me, my life may not be so fanastic but i kind off enjoy it. I have one life and as long as i live i will make the most out of it, being it a top hollywood actor or miss universe i will make it as my teacher, mrs Phua, once said, "Dont let anyone stop you from achieving what u want to be because people will always ther to bring you down and mock you but if you stand firm then nothing will get in your way."
